Matching Chair and Ottoman Resin

Manufacturers produce poly resin chairs from recycled plastic. Plants secrete a natural resin; synthetic resin has been so named because it behaves much like the natural substance. Resin patio chairs have become a popular prop for outdoor entertaining because they endure fairly harsh weathering and clean up well. They also require minimal maintenance to keep them in good condition.

When resin chairs grow dirty, you have several ways you can clean them. To remove surface dirt, your task may be as simple as wiping the chairs with a wet cloth. If you think more extensive cleaning is necessary, you can mix a soap-and-water solution; wipe the chairs and hose them down to keep any soapy residue from drying. Some people also use pressure washers to clean their resin patio chairs.

Light-colored chairs may pick up stains if they have sat in the weather, but stains should be easy to remove. Use a stronger cleaning solution. You can mix bleach and water, about one part bleach to nine parts water. Or use another cleaner you prefer. If your chairs are not white, it’s never a bad idea to spot test a section that’s not prominent, such as the bottom of the seat. A spot test ensures that your cleaner will not harm the coloring.

Use of Extension Leaves in Dining Tables

A dining table is a large flat surface of wood with an appropriate height, width and length, which would normally be held on a number of legs or pedestal.

In the past, before people became civilised, they would sit on the floor perhaps crossed legged like squatting, to eat their food with family and friends. As people did become more cultured they began to use different things like shaped stones or logs to sit on and eat from which eventually took on better shapes to serve the purpose for which they were being used.

When wood craftsmen became more advanced they introduced flat surfaces with an appropriate shape and size, raised it on some kind of frame and called it a dining table, which they used to share food and hospitality with their family and friends.

Generally, dining tables should be comfortable to sit at, and eat from and be big enough to seat a number of people who will have to share this space for their meal.

Interior Design and Glass Dining Tables

Glass has traditionally been a hard sell as a surface to eat on. Heavy plates and serving dishes, forks, knives, all these materials seem to make one believe that dining on a wooden table a safer choice. Yet glass that has been tempered can stand up to oven-like temperatures and a lot of abuse. These make the perfect choice for a place to dine and share your days’ events with family and possibly friends.

Many families have decided to go for a modern look with their interior décor. The glass dining table goes right along with this style. If choosing an oblong dining table, its straight lines and flat edges easily blend into the clean lines that those with a modern flair like to see. It can seat many people as it can be made quite large. It can also sit a cozy two for those that don’t need that type of seating. This table will make a wonderful addition to your décor already in place.
If your tastes do not fall into the category of modern and straight clean lines do not top your list of importance when it comes to décor, you may prefer a round table. These tables are just as aesthetically charming as their oblong counterparts, yet they can be sized to adjust to any eating location. If you have a small nook, your table can be made to fit that particular smaller size. If your space is bigger a larger table may be available. Whatever your need, a glass table will be practical as well as aesthetically superior to its wooden counterpart.

Outdoor Tables – Maintenance And Precautions

A table is a versatile piece in the home. A flat surface, it lends itself to functionality, allowing you to work, play, or just sit and rest your head. When sitting outside on a patio, or in your back yard, a table is no less useful. However the force of the elements means that you have to take special precautions when choosing a piece for this location.

An outdoor table has a lot more to deal with in terms of decay and degradation than an indoor piece. Not only do you have the rain, and the snow, and sleet, and hale, but you also have the sun constantly beating down on it, fading its colors, as well as the wind constantly blowing it, attacking it a little, every second of the day.

There are also social aspects to consider. Being outdoors makes people feel exuberant, especially children. This can cause people to climb on outdoor furnishings, or treat them a little more physically than they would with indoor pieces. For all of these reasons it is important to purchase a table which can withstand all of these elements, and still look attractive and be functional for years to come.

The Use of Beverage Coasters in the Home

Stone coasters are essential kitchen or bar accessories which every home must have. They are simple materials that we can place beneath an object to protect the surface of furniture from heat or condensation of liquids. Almost every home takes a type of beverage. Whether it is a cup of coffee or a glass of lemonade, we need coasters to place our drinks on.

The placement of hot cups on tables without stone coasters can have some effect on the surface on which it sits. If the beverage is hot, say a cup of coffee, the furniture surface will become hot and with time cause a warp or discoloration. In some cases a crack can occur on the surface of the furniture. If tables or desks are not protected by stone coasters, the effect of drinks on this furniture can be undesirable. They will diminish their beauty and shorten their life span.

For these reasons, we need coasters made from stone materials to shield our expensive furniture from preventable damage of hot coffee cups.

Simple Tips for Gardening in Your Loft or Apartment

If you live in an apartment or any area where you have limited outdoor space for a garden, don’t despair. With a little planning, you can become a hobby gardener and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Container gardening offers many possibilities. One advantage of containers is that they are portable. You can take advantage of good weather by placing plants on a window ledge, in a window box or on a patio. During severe weather, they may be moved to a protected area. Most small to medium sized plants can be grown in containers. As long as you provide sufficient room for root growth and control nutrients, water and light, you can achieve marvelous results in container.

Types of containers can run the gamut from plastic or metal pots, ceramic pots to wooden planters. It is important to have pots that can drain. If placed in an area where water could damage a surface, set the planter in a tray. The tray may be filled with gravel to raise the bottom of the planter above the tray surface to allow good drainage. Stagnant water may”drown” a plant and cause it to die or perform poorly.

The benefits of a green roof

The urban sprawl of cities cover only 0.4% of the world’s surface, yet they generate the majority of the carbon emissions responsible for global warming (State of the World 2007, Worldwatch Institute, January 2007). As more and more of the global population migrate from rural areas into burgeoning cities of concrete and bitumen, the issue of green spaces become ever more critical. The urban roofscape of growing cities that displaces the natural environment is a hellish place hot bituminous surfaces, extreme temperature contrasts, high winds and an antipathy to water. Some cities have turned to innovative approaches, transforming city rooftops into living gardens in the sky.

Sod houses on the American prairie commonly had living roofs, as did the log houses of Northern Europe. But it has only been recently that the trend has caught on in the modern cities. On commercial buildings, a green roof is typically made up of four layers a layer of water proof membrane, followed by storage cups to store excess water, a growing medium of soil composite and vegetation. With new and improved technology, the membranes spread across rooftops can now capture water for irrigation, allow drainage, support growing plants, and resist invasion of roots into building structure. In some cities such as Germany, Switzerland and Austria, living roofs are required by law if roofs are of a suitable pitch. In other places, architects and builders are given fee reductions to encourage the use of green roofs.
